What it means
The floor trap is the drain set into your bathroom floor, usually covered by a small metal or plastic grating. It is where shower water, mop water, and anything else on the floor drains away. Every Singapore bathroom has one, and it is already connected to the building's drainage, with the floor around it graded and sealed by the original waterproofing.
The "trap" part of the name matters too: the fitting is shaped to hold a small amount of water, which acts as a seal between your bathroom and the drainage pipes below. That is why the floor trap should stay uncovered and free-flowing rather than being blocked off or built over.
For a freestanding bathtub, the floor trap is the whole plumbing story. Instead of cutting new pipes into the wall or floor, the tub simply drains into the trap your bathroom already has, through a flexible drainage outlet that ships with the bathtub.
